These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Idlehour LLC ("Bastion," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Bastion software, the getbastion.app website, and every related service we provide (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, installing the Bastion plugin, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Bastion is a local-first command center for Obsidian: dashboards, task tracking, calendar, projects, AI assistance, and (on the Pro plan) business dashboards. The Plugin runs on your machine. Your Vault content is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. Our servers handle only accounts, subscriptions, license checks, and the integration services described in our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to purchase a Subscription. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf.

We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim accounts where reasonably necessary to protect the Service or comply with law.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Plugin for your personal or internal business use, on devices you control, at the feature level of your current plan. This license does not permit you to resell, sublicense, host for others, or offer the Service as a managed offering without our written permission.
Free — no cost, subject to the usage limits published at getbastion.app/pricing.
Plus — the full personal app: $9.99/month, or $95.88/year (works out to $7.99/month — a 20% discount).
Pro — everything in Plus, plus the Social Analytics, Commerce, Finance, Companies, and Relationships dashboards: $19.99/month, or $191.88/year (works out to $15.99/month — a 20% discount).
Prices are in USD and exclusive of applicable taxes, which are calculated at checkout. Payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. and/or Paddle.com Market Limited; by subscribing you also agree to the applicable processor's terms. We never see or store your full card details.
Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page or by emailing us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep paid features until then.
Price changes. We may change prices prospectively. If a change affects your existing Subscription, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and it will apply from your next renewal. If you don't agree, cancel before the renewal date.
New subscribers receive a 14-day free trial of the plan they choose. No payment card is required to start the trial. If you add a payment method and do not cancel before the trial ends, billing begins automatically when the trial ends. We may limit trials to one per person.
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which includes a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first paid period and honors the statutory withdrawal rights of EU/UK consumers. The Refund Policy is part of these Terms.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations, with notice where practicable.
Your Content is yours. We claim no ownership of, and take no license to, anything in your Vault. Because your Content lives on your device, you are responsible for backing it up — Bastion is not a backup service, and we are not responsible for loss of local data.
If you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.
Bastion's AI features send the specific text needed to answer your request (for example, the notes relevant to a question you ask) to an AI provider — Anthropic (Claude) by default, or a provider you configure with your own API key (such as OpenAI, Google, xAI, or OpenRouter) — and only when you invoke an AI action. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
AI output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose. AI output is not professional advice (legal, medical, financial, or otherwise), and you are responsible for reviewing it before relying on it. If you bring your own API key, your relationship with that provider — including its fees and usage policies — is between you and them.
The Service can connect to third-party services you authorize (for example Todoist, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Asana, TickTick, Etsy, Shopify, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, and social media platforms). Your use of each third-party service is governed by that service's own terms, and we are not responsible for its availability, accuracy, security, or conduct. We may add, change, or discontinue integrations at any time, including where a third party changes or revokes API access.
The Service — including its software, design, trademarks, and all content other than your Content — is owned by Idlehour LLC or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the license in Section 4, these Terms grant you no rights in the Service. "Bastion" and the Bastion logo are trademarks of Idlehour LLC.
Features labeled beta, preview, upcoming, or experimental are provided as-is, may change or be withdrawn without notice, may be less reliable than generally available features, and may be excluded from support.
We aim for high availability of our account and integration services but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may perform maintenance or release updates at any time. The core Plugin runs locally and keeps working during server downtime, except for features that require our servers (license refresh, sync integrations, built-in AI). Support is provided by email at chad@getbastion.app; Pro subscribers receive priority handling.
You may stop using the Service at any time by canceling your Subscription and uninstalling the Plugin. We may suspend or terminate your Account if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service (in which case we will give reasonable notice and honor the Refund Policy). Upon termination, paid features end at the close of the period already paid for. Sections 9, 12, and 16–19 survive termination.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IDLEHOUR LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50). NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW, OR THE NON-EXCLUDABLE STATUTORY RIGHTS OF CONSUMERS.
You will defend and indemnify Idlehour LLC from claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including attorneys' fees) arising from your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights in connection with the Service.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and each party consents to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law grants you mandatory protections or a local forum, nothing in this section takes those away. To the extent permitted by law, claims may be brought only individually, not as part of a class action.
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will notify you by email or a prominent notice on getbastion.app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
